Christine Mboma’s Story
For 32 years, Namibians have relied on Marathon as the sweetest and most trusted sugar. A reliable source of energy to assist you through any day, including difficult ones and special occasions. As Namibians, the running man is a part of our culture. The running man has come to represent Marathon’s commitment to Namibian athletics and our commitment to consistency in quality and reliability.
To emphasize Marathon’s dedication to local communities, the brand has over the years nurtured young athletes around the nation in coaching and training clinics. Marathon has walked the path with young sportsmen and women and has always prioritised Namibians at its core with every delightful sip and every bite.
Many Namibian sportsmen have been found to be brimming with potential and untapped talent, yet only few have reached success. However, there comes a time when one athlete exceeds the others, reaching ultimate heights. A Namibian star emerged, a determined young girl by the name of Christine Mboma born in Rundu and brought up in Grootfontein, a true Namibian gem. Christine, our national hero, participated in the Marathon QSB coaching and training clinics before she earned the silver medal in the 200 meters track event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Marathon and the Namibian nation beamed with joy and pride in our homeland, as Christine became the first ever Namibian woman to win an Olympic medal and simultaneously breaking a world under-20 and African senior record.
The collaboration between Marathon and Christine was inevitable, after having a walked a journey of support and growth already. A first of its kind type of partnership in Namibia, Marathon is happy to be supporting Christine in her journey to the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
Marathon represents ‘True Energy’ for Christine and for every Namibian! Come on this journey with us as we bring Christine to the starting blocks…
