Manager: Milling

Reporting to the Head: Technical, the incumbent will be required to:

Key Responsibilities

  • Department staffing strategy, skill and development of the staff, performance management and employee morale.
  • Develop, implement and maintain operational policies and procedures that further and support objectives.
  • Ensure all areas operate efficiently within agreed financial budgets.
  • Control stock levels of both raw materials and finished products to ensure efficient response to product specifications and volume requirements (in line with forecasts and new product development) are made
  • Continually improves on the mill yield, extraction and capacity performance against set standards, Accountable for the overall quality and functionality of the finished flour product that is produced by the mill on a daily basis.
  • Develop methods to monitor and measure department activity to identify areas of success and areas of opportunity in order to control production efficiency, manufacturing variances, material waste, labour expense and other indicator of profitability.
  • Ensure that all stocks are maintained at minimum levels. (This included wheat, maize and breakdown spares)
  • Responsible to procure needed milling materials, controlling spare parts, inventory for rolls, sifters, purifiers and other milling equipment.
  • Completion of mill production and inventory reports on a routine basis.
  • Adhere to Company Policies, Procedures and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety and Hygiene Policies and Procedures at all times.

Qualification and Preferred Traits

The successful candidate must have:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in a high capacity wheat and maize mill
  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
  • GMF Module 4 Wheat and Maize
  • GMF Trade Test
  • Preference will be given to applicants with an advanced milling qualifications
  • Must be willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime as required

Cost and Governance

Reporting to the Executive Finance the Head: Cost and Governance will be responsible for maintaining costing aspects for various operations and manage sound financial principles in regards to legal requirements.

The successful candidate will have:

• Finance acumen and an entrepreneur’s mindset.
• Detailed knowledge of Namibian Laws and regulations
• Broad skills for effectiveness in setting the strategic direction of the organization, planning and prioritizing, monitoring progress and managing change.
• Establish principles of security, transparency, equity, compliance, reliance and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• The development of annual standard costs and periodic reviews to ensure validity and accuracy
• Identify, provide and deliver solutions relating to cost management in order to meet business needs
• The development of operating budgets and forecasts.
• Review and audit Bill of materials.
• Preparing monthly and annual financial reports.
• The reconciliation, preparation and submission of VAT accounts and returns.
• Ensure compliance with tax legislation
• Income tax calculation and submission of returns on ITAS.
• Implement and manage effective legal compliance program.
• Assess Company operations to determine compliance risk.
• Advise management on the Company’s compliance with laws and regulations through detailed reports.
• Maintain and update the Company’s risk register
• Maintain and manage fixed asset register

Qualification and Preferred Traits

The successful candidate will have:
• Degree in Accounting and completed articles.
• Minimum of 8 years’ management experience in Finance
• Proficient in MS office with advanced skills in Excel
• Valid Code B Namibian driver’s license
• Proficient knowledge of ERP/MRP Systems
• SAP experience is SAP Module Material Management and FI
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Good organization skills
• Personal resilience, with the ability to self-motivate
• Experience of working to targets and deadlines
• Ability to work under own initiative
